Haas programming help

mic from North East UK -

I may be starting a new job that will require me to set, operate and program Haas milling machines. Having only been used to protrak and a little heidenhain I was wondering if anyone can tell me how easy or hard it is to pick up and also if anyone can recommend any good resources for tutorials etc such as books, websites etc.

Thanks

Hiya Mic, I have been working on Haas machines for the past several years. The control is one of the friendlist I have used and quite easy to work with although I still prefer Okuma or Mori. All the Haas controls (for mill) are the same from generation to generation so far. As for training I don't think you will need it if you are a fairly competent machinist. Just like any other machine it has all the necessary functions just layed out in different areas. Google "Haas control" and it will bring up a pic of what you can expect to see.

Best O' luck to you. DDB

The best training system available is from LearnHAAS.com. I suspect you will be fine as the control is designed for the machinist....but if you want a full and interactive tutorial, that would be my recommendation.
