I have question regarding our old Fanuc OM controller…

We had a 101 error(Please clear memory)

I cleared the memory and then needed to reinput the tool carousel subroutine which is a O9000 PROGRAM. The 09000 programs are protected and when I input I am getting an 074(Illegal program number) code.

I have also occasionally gotten an 087(buffer overflow message) that lists as the I/O unit or PCB is defective.

Does anyone know the controller settings on how to download the tool carousel O9000 program?

To load and unload 9000 programs there is a parameter that write protects these programs. I do not have a OM control parameter manual. But you will have to set PWE parameter to 1 then change the parameter that write protects the 9000 programs. This parameter blocks loading and downloading 9000's.

As to the buffer overflow this is a common alarm when your settings between your computer and your machine are off. The easiest thing to try is slow down your baudrate. If this does not work on your computer go to SYSTEM icon in the control panel under HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER, drop down the PORTS list, click the port your DNC is using, click PROPERTIES, PORT SETTINGS, ADVANCED, set the FIFO to it's lowest setting, and click ok when exiting all menus.
