DNC: Direct Numerical Control

Hypnotique from Oklahoma -

This is a way of networking CNC machine tools. In some instances on some CNC machine controllers the memory is too small to hold the machining program. By using a seperate computer to directly send the program one block at a time enables that machining program to be used. The computer is connected to different machines and it is able to send programs to different machines as required.

Normally, 1 computer connects for 1 machine, If required, u can use cimcoedit to set all the machines you have. You must have hub to separate the cable.

You will get lot of technical information on wired & wireless DNC at digitech-engineers.com. You can have Ethernet based CNC Networking, Wireless LAN based CNC Networking, or Industrial Bluetooth based CNC Networking - Deepak

The cheap way is that you can buy a multiport(rs232) card. And multi run the same dnc software according your cnc quantity at windows 2000 or XP before every dnc software setting different com port. As you know windows plateform supports multi processing. Under 512Mbytes memory XP can run 40-50 the same programs. And dnc software you can use XP terminal simulation in the attachment. To set up at transfer text mode and xon/xoff. If you like VB or VC you can use DDE or multi thread to write a program . Some new software plateform can support another good ways.
