Painting wooden signs?

hey, i wa woundering if anyone knows a good way to fill in just the letters of a sign cut in wood. Also any special fillers i could maybe use?

I am assuming your talking about v carving fonts etc. Then you want to fill only the relieved portions with paint. The way we do this is:

1. cut your project

2. paint the letters/design etc dont worry about getting any paint on the face of your work.

3. after the paint dries run the piece through a thickness sander and remove just enough to get the paint and WAAA LAAAA you have a piece everyone wonders how you did it!

ps if you dont have a thickness sander use sandpaper, hand sander etc.

Or you can just cover the wood in shelf paper or something similar before you carve it then just peel it off after you carve and paint it
