Y axis problem
Richard Birks (202.72.166.13) -
We are using a Sharman Horizontal machining centre and yesterday suddenly Y axis positions are out by about 3.3mm , it was half way through a repeat program when we noticed the tap did not line up with the hole. We checked the table height with a centre finder, it is usually y-69.2 but measured y-65.9. We referenced several times, switched it off and always the same. The spindle is still parallel to the table and the spindle clocks up ok.What could be the problem, any ideas?

Just a suggestion but check the y axis resolver... it might be lose.Is it repeating the same amount everytime? if notit might be the resolver. There are set screws that can come lose over time check them.I used to have this problem on a sunstrand omni-mill all the time. What a pain!
