help adding machining to a dxf file

we have a masterwood cnc machine running with the masterworks software. This allows importing of dxf files but when i try it tells me the file must have machinings. what is the best program to import a dxf file and add machinings. im getting the dxf from adobe illustrator and am looking at trial software like autocad and turbocad. both have expensive CAM plugins and im looking for just a trial at the moment.
