Hitachi Seili VK45 milling machine

After a recent thunder storm, the computor we use to upload/download saved programmes via an RS232 port was destroyed.

We got a new computor and now, using the same software, we cant upload to the machine at all and when I write a programme directly into the control box and try to download it to the computor, the machine thinks it's sending the programme but what comes out at the other end is unreadable symbols. I have had computor geeks in to look at the computor & I have had someone in to check the RS232 port on the machine. The expert opinion is tht they are both working ok.

Has anyone else ever come across this problem. if so what did you do??? Heeeeeeelp.
