IntellectAutoDetect -The polygonal model has been a most popular form of surface representation because of their simplicity of representation and capability of describing objects of arbitrary shape and topology. There is a need to extract structured information from a polygonal model in applications such as Reverse Engineering, Computer Vision. The structured information could be attributed to sharp edge existence on a polygonal model. It is essential to extract this information automatically to eliminate time consuming and tedious job of manual identification
The handling of meshes with noise was the issue in detecting sharp features in the mesh. In most cases, the detected edges are incomplete due to underlying mesh characteristics. These incomplete edges were required to be extended in the appropriate direction to make the loop. The subdivision of the detected loops was a great challenge due to their diversified shapes and sizes.
